FUNDEVI sponsored the installation of a backup system for the electrical generator in the Ophthalmological Department of the San Felipe Specialties Hospital as a solution to recurrent system flaws (low voltage, service intermittency, over-voltage, and total service loss), which resulted in equipment damage, in addition to limited attention to patients.
The equipment requires to comply with defined specifications, therefore a preliminary study on technical specifications was performed through the voluntary collaboration of a subject expert, engineer José Antonio Morán. Based on the study recommendations, a 4kW backup system was installed and 3 automatic voltage regulators of 3000 VA were purchased for the sensitive electronic equipment of the operating rooms and the ophthalmology consultation room.
The backup equipment has a total worth of US$6,306; it was delivered by FUNDEVI´s CEO Mr. Juan Carlos Reyes and received by the Hospital´s Director Dr. Rigoberto Barahona and the Ophthalmology Department Chief Dr. Luis Lagos, in the presence of the Hospital´s Aid Committee and staff, executives and local media.
Throughout 2019, we have benefitted 13 health centers with donations mainly of batches of frequently used medicines, with a total worth of US$108,972.12.
