With tears of happiness, Mrs. Eileen Eney Elvir says, “I have had my house for two years now, and I still could not believe it! I am very excited because no one ever trusted me. I knocked on several doors, and they always denied me the loan; only FUNDEVI gave me the opportunity of building my own home. Having my own house is one of the reasons that encouraged me to make an effort in my business of baleadas”.

Mrs. Eileen, from Colonia La Travesía at Tegucigalpa, tells us that: “Twenty years ago I started to sell baleadas and burritas in the street. With my daughter’s support, own savings, and loans from my relatives, I bought a piece of land with the illusion of building my house. For that purpose, I went to a financial institution. She continues saying, “with so many refusals, I gave up, and I focused on having a place to sell the baleadas, which I got thanks to a friend who lent me the money. A few days later, they called me and asked me to come to the office to sign the contract because the credit was approved. I could not believe it! I finally got my opportunity, and trust, for having credit and fulfill my wish of having my own home”.

She remembers, “When I was about to sign the credit, I felt fear of having such a big debt, but I remembered that I had been renting for 20 years and that I had nothing, so I did not give up. Today, I have been paying for my house for two years, I have never been late for a payment. If I can, I pay more and make improvements. Currently, it has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, two kitchens, and two living rooms.”

Eileen considers, “My house is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Every day I wake upat 4:00 am to work hard and move forward. When my day finishes it is rewarding to arrive home, rest under a safe roof where I feel peace and tranquility”.

Very excited, she tells us, “Thanks to God, I live happily at my house, with my youngest daughter of 17 and my father. My other two daughters have their own house, and my son is working in Mexico. I am very proud of raising them as a single divorced mother. I now have a partner who has been a blessing. He supports my entrepreneurship, my business has grown, I have two employees, and before it was just my daughter and me.”

Finally, she explains that “now that my business is already registered and has grown and that I have my house, many financial institutions have approached to me with the interest of buying my debt with FUNDEVI. I don’t forget that only FUNDEVI granted me a loan in the conditions that I was, that is why I am a loyal client, and I won’t change it.”
